The Selbu bird, fugl in the old chart books, sits alongside the eight-point star in the sharpest of the Norwegian palettes: black, white, red and grey. Ten whole birds march between star heroes, snowflakes and diamond peeries; the back carries the star medallion band. Knitted to order as real jacquard, two colours per row like the craft demands, with solid red ribbing at the V-neck, armholes and hem.
