Fair Isle Allover Knitted Christmas Sweater: Fourteen Bands, No Gaps
Most fair-isle sweaters have a band. Fair Isle Allover has fourteen, and the Owl can name all of them.
This is the maximalist knit in the range: bands stacked from collar to hem with nothing left plain, snowflakes over diamonds over peeries over crosses, every row carrying pattern. Where the other knits pick a motif and let it breathe, this one refuses to stop. The Owl designed it during a fortnight nobody asks her about.

The Owl explains why it does not stop
Real fair-isle is built from bands, and the discipline is that each band uses two colours per row and no more, however busy the whole thing looks. That constraint is what stops a dense sweater turning to mud. You can stack fourteen bands and still read every one of them, as long as each row obeys the rule.
Ours does. Wide bands and narrow bands alternate so the eye has somewhere to rest, the motifs change scale as they climb, and the trim at collar, cuffs and hem is a single flat colour so the whole thing has an edge to sit inside. The Owl calls the trim the frame and gets short with anyone who suggests patterning it.
Somebody proposed a fifteenth band. She has not forgotten who.

The highest score any of our knits has managed, and the Owl is quietly pleased about it while maintaining that the score is not the objective.
The Chief Festivity Officer awarded the 6 from a hot spring and noted that it is the only knit in the range you can see from across a room. It is a real Christmas sweater in the way people mean when they say it: dense, busy, unmistakable, and made properly rather than printed on.
Six is also the ceiling for knitwear. Above that you need lights, and lights need batteries, and batteries need a pocket, and at that point the Owl leaves the meeting.

Wearing fourteen bands without a fight
Everything else plain, and this time we mean it. Solid trousers, solid boots, no scarf with anything happening on it. The sweater is doing enough.
Dark denim is the safest pairing. Anything patterned below the waist starts an argument the sweater will win and the outfit will lose.
It runs true to size in a unisex classic fit. Between sizes, or after a slouchier look, go up one. The sizing and fit guide covers it.
Dense knits also photograph better than dense prints, because the pattern has physical depth and picks up room light instead of flattening under it. December is badly lit. This helps.
When can you get it?
Every knit is made to order and ships standard only, so the Christmas deadline arrives earlier than people expect.
Order by November 15 for delivery before Christmas, worldwide. That covers the crew, the vest, the pet sweater and both matching sets. There is no express option on knitwear, because the two weeks on the needles happens before anything ships.

FAQ
What does allover fair isle mean?
Every row carries pattern, collar to hem, with no plain sections between the bands. Most fair-isle sweaters use one or two bands on a plain ground. This one stacks fourteen.
Is it too busy to wear?
It is the busiest thing we make, which is the appeal. Keep everything else in the outfit plain and it works. Add a second pattern and it does not.
Why is it knitted rather than printed?
Print flattens a dense band stack into noise. Knitting gives every band physical depth, so you can still read all fourteen from across a room.
Does the dog version have the same bands?
Yes, rescaled rather than simplified. The $199 matching set is the cheaper way to buy both.
Does the price change by size?
Never. One flat price per form across the whole size range.
